Finally done with their mission, the Hale twins had arrived back home. Freeport, Kansas. American census of 5 citizens, thanks to Hunter interference, and 128 acres of farm land up-top. No one driving by would ever realize an entire city lay just beneath them. Pulling their car into a field littered with similar vehicles, made to look old an abandoned, the pair vacated and walked up to a small cottage. Pulling on the door handle, a panel on the door slid up, revealing a keypad. Madison frowned as she entered the needlessly long passcode needed to enter the underground bunker that was the Hunter's main base of operations in North America. Mason, what were the last three digits? Madi asked her brother telepathically, unable to remember the end of their shared code. Uhh.. 5-9-2, she heard back within her mind, hurrying to enter the numbers before the alarm sounded from her taking too long, sighing internally as she heard the lock click and other mechanisms slide out of the way.
"Alright Mason, grab the stuff and let's go." She turned back to face her brother, frowning to find him playing on his phone. For someone with the ability to disable technology, he sure did use it a lot. "Yeah, I'm coming.." Mason muttered to his sister's prodding, gripping their bag of borrowed weapons with his free hand, closing the open apps on his cell with the other. "Gimme a break! Terrible service down stairs." He really did wish Madison was more open to technology and expanding, since even the Hunters utilized the web these days. Sure, they had Ethernet in the bunker, but it was for Hunter work only. Usually. Madison roller her eyes at her brother's commentary, holding the door open as he stepped into the cabin. She waved at the Hunter who stayed top-side, manning the phone for mission-updates, and if anyone who they didn't want on base showed up at their front door.
The duo made their way passed the attendant, who nodded back and hit a button on his desk. More panels slid, though this time they revealed an elevator. Nodding their thanks, Madi entered first, followed by Mason. Let's drop this stuff back off in the weapons room? Then a walk through of the monster floor? Madi asked, but went ahead and pressed the elevator button for sub-level three. Mason nodded, shifting the bag to his other hand as the elevator silently dropped two levels. Stepping out for a moment, he dropped the bag with another Hunter who was in charge of rented weapon return. Madi and Mason never left their quarters without their own weapons. Madison her throwing daggers, and Mason his ax. "Alright Mads, let's see if they got any new ones today," he grinned as he stepped back into the elevator, allowing Madi to hit the sub-level seven button.
Once again, they waited in silence while traveling lower into the bunker, exiting Madi first, following by Mason. That's typically how they did their entrances, since Madison was able to push people off of her with her mind, similarly to the way Mason could disable technology. A long, wide hallway greeted them, Hunter guards posted at random intervals along the hall. The beginning of the hall always brought Madison down. The younger monsters they captured, and deemed less of a threat, were the first any visitors would see. While adults and dangerous abilities were further down, in stronger cells. She shook her head, silently peering into the first few cells and reading their informational charts. A 12 year old Aura Reader, 10 year old Water Elemental, 7 year old Dream Walker and a 6 year old Nephilim-Dream Walker hybrid.. Captured together, it looked like. Of course, each supernatural was placed in their own individual cell, fixed with a bed, dresser, sink, and a small bathroom. State of the art Hunter facility, even being a prisoner had it's perks.
Madison, let's go. He could feel his sister's emotions rising, but never could tell why exactly. It isn't like they went out of their way to hurt the younger ones. Sure, they were treated no different than the threatening, more experienced monsters, but underwent only a fraction of the testing, were allowed to eat together once a week, and even practice their abilities in controlled environments. Being trained to work for the Hunters, and one day earn their freedom. Mason gripped his sister's shoulders, pulling her back towards the elevator. Of course, he knew she loved their job. Some days were just harder than others.
Madi nodded, allowing her brother to pull her away. She couldn't help but think that it could be her and Mason locked up like that. They got lucky, being born into the Hunters. They never had to worry about being captured, tortured, killed.. Sighing, Madison straightened, pushing her brother's hands off of her. "I'm fine." She shrugged his hands off of her, stepping into the elevator with him, allowing it to take them back up to sub-level four. As soon as the doors opened, she retreated back to their shared quarters, then to her own room within their suite. Mason scratched his head, trailing behind her. "Man, I just don't get girls.."
