The Show Must Go On

Jeremy crouched on the balls of his feet, sorting through the names and faces of his fellow carnies. Most of the acts were well rehearsed and could be put on within a moments notice. All he had to do was get the daybills up for everyone to know the spots, and for the sake of the flatties. They sure did enjoy taking their selfies with the posters. "It's getting there. You prepped to go on tonight?" Jeremy turned to Kendrick, ignoring his jab about finding a woman. He wasn't exactly looking for love. At the moment, all he needed to look for was tonight's acts. Turning back to his work, Jeremy pulled Kendrick and Kole's place cards and pinned them onto the line-up cork-board, next to Liam the animal tamer and Scarlett, a master of fire. Several other pin-ups were aligned along the board, simply waiting for their performance position time. Leaning the board up against the edge of the booth, Jeremy stood and stretched his legs. "Perhaps, instead of focusing on my love life, you should focus on avoiding the Mooches."

Scarlett slammed the particularly creaky screen door to her trailer open, letting it crash against the metal box and slam shut behind her. Her eyes fuming with a spark of rage as she stamped her heels into the ground, having to pull the heel out of dirt and shake them off more than once. Coming straight up to Kole and crossing her arms giving him a dirty glare, before throwing her arms out to motion towards her outfit. "You really think, that I'm going to be seen, wearing this? And before you answer, the correct choice is no. I specifically asked for a size 3 with the red sequins, what are these pink? My entire act is ruined...." She let out a deep sigh and ran her fingers through her hair briefly gripping her head and rolling her eyes before crossing them against her chest once more. Frowning a bit to herself, she felt a little bad for taking her frustrations out on Kole, "Be warned, I'm in a mood."

Kole had been absorbed in the conversation until Aquila had made her way over. Barely brushing her feather, Kole smiled faintly. She was an incredible bird, and one Kole had actually grown to enjoy having around. It was nice not always just speaking with his hard headed brothers or the slightly off the wall females... Nodding faintly to her word, Kole watched as the Big Top began to rise into the air with the assistance of the bird. He was focused on the art at work, that was until Kendrick spoke up. "Good. Now that the hard work is done, where are those ladies..They can't hide from chores forever" Looking back at the smashing door, Kendrick smiled. "Well speak of the devil and she shall appear. Why good morning sleeping beauty." In a teasing manner, Kendrick sat back and watched as Scarlet walked in her typical skimpy outfit. Now this was his kind of show. Leaning over to Kole, Kendrick chuckled, with a wide smile upon his face. "Isn't she stunning?" 

At first, Kole had been thrown off. Looking at Scarlet, Kole remained quiet as she spoke. As she finished blaming him for the costume, he attempted to interject. "I don't pick the co--" But Scarlet cut him off by proclaiming her bad mood. When it came down to it, there was no logic in reasoning with this woman. Her hot temper matched her abilities completely, after all, she was known as the Fire Thrower for a reason. Leaning forward slightly, still resting against the wooden booth, Kole just pretended to be listening to her with a blank look on his face. After she had finished speaking, Kole looked to Jeremy and Kendrick for confirmation in what just happened. And like that he disappeared into the air, reappearing within a couple minutes with a red, size three dress. Handing it over to her, Kole quickly diverted away from the woman, checking to see how Rosalina and Selena were doing. "Good morning ladies, how did you rest?" Kole felt like keeping the peace in the group was partially his responsibility. 

Liam rolled his eyes and shook his head as Scarlett made her appearance, Hot Head, he thought should have been her stage name. He was sitting at a table signing posters to be sold and putting them in a pile next to him once they were finished. His hand was starting to cramp but, anything for the fans! Scarlett was still rampaging and he looked at her with a "What the hell?" type look on his face, pink and red were not that much different of colors and nobody in the audience would even know that the colors were messed up! Liam always thought that she had made a big deal out of the smallest of "issues".

Aquila was perched on the trapeze swing above him and she let out an almost chuckle, or, as much of one as a bird could offer, "Miss Scarlett! You look wonderful! But, I must say, It isn't Mr. Kole's doing for the mix up in colors. He may have fixed the issue this time, but his loving, sweet, and I must not forget caring brother, Jeremy is in charge of the outfits and what not! Maybe you should focus that misguided anger on him next time, Deary." Liam looked up at Aquila with a threatening glance, and she looked down at him then back up, proud like to try to cause a bit of trouble. Liam stood up and held Aquila's beak closed and shook his head, then looked over towards Scarlett hoping he looked apologetic, but, his face never hid his emotions, in reality, he was glad that Aquila had said something, he just wished that she would have said something to make her stop her raging rampage once in awhile.

When Serena and Rosalina came in and they did their little wave, it was something that always creeped Liam out. He knew he was surrounded by freaks, but, two heads on one body, well, that was a bit much even for him. They were incredibly nice and he felt awful even thinking these things, but, he just couldn't help it. He smiled towards them and then held out his arm for Aquila to land on. They had to begin getting ready for the show. They only had a few more hours and Liam had to make sure all of the animals were properly dressed. He looked at Aquila, giving her the orders through their telepathic bond, to get the birds ready for their new act, and he would take care of the bears, tiger, lions, and elephants. He was giving the Zebras, hippos, and giraffes the night off other than the final parade because the flight show would take even longer tonight.

Everything seemed to have been going exactly as planned and he smiled. He put the harnesses on the elephants, the bow ties on the bears, and the bows on the ends of the lady tiger and lion tails while putting crowns on the manly lions and dressing the final tigers in capes. Everything looked perfect. Aquila had on her silver beak and feather tip jewelry, to match her dark grey feathers and to bring out the white and black speckles throughout it. The other birds had on blues, reds, greens, yellows, but, none other than Aquila had the silver. Now that the animals were prepared, it was time for Liam to get ready. He went into his trailer and Aquila sat perched on the top of the door waiting for him. He came out, cane in hand, dressed in all white and silver to match Aquila. He wore a high top hat, a cape, and shoulder tassels all in silver while the suit all in white. His cane was silver as well as his shoes, and Liam looked up at Aquila with his proud smile that usually only appeared when he was doing a show. Aquila perched herself on his shoulder and began, "And now! Liam, The Animal Whisperer!"

Shaking her head Serena smirked at Scarlett's little act, Scarlett amused Serena, almost to the point she was slightly thankful for the distraction. She knew her and her sister although part of the freak show, were kind of an oddity on their own, one body with two head didn't quite scream discrete. So when Scarlett had her fits it was nice to not have eyes on them. 

Rosalina on the other hand found Scarlett's outburst quite rude, often picking the closest person to be the victim of her next rampage. Honestly she felt bad for Jeremy, in fact it was most likely Scarlett's fault for the mix up in the first place. Rosalina glanced at her sister trying to suppress a giggle, What a hot mess, she thought to Serena, making her sister chuckle and shake her head.

The two nodded at Jeremy, Rosalina smiled reassuringly at Jeremy and nodded to her sister. They walked over to the posters and grabbed three or four, they maybe have two heads, but their one body was still quite petite and frail. The posters were of course the largest they could possibly store in a trailer, because of course space was limited in their line of work, and every inch cost money. Turning to face Jeremy, Serena spoke up, "Put them in the usual spot? Light posts outside the grounds?" Serena and Rosalina then grabbed a container of nails and hammer respectively and headed towards the outside of the camp ground, taking caution for any people that might try to poke fun of the freaks.

"You're each responsible for your own wardrobe!" Jeremy raised his voice after Aquila and Liam began to leave. He didn't have time to manage sparkly outfits and matching socks. As far as Jeremy was concerned, his duties lay in perfecting their line-up and acts. And ensuring no mistakes happened, by keeping power levels in line with each performance. He never wanted to be an act - the supporting role worked for him. Turning to the two who remained in the booth with him, Jeremy rolled his eyes. "Would you two mind waiting until after the show? We've got a lot to do. Scarlett, any idea what props you'd like to use tonight? Better yet, we could always do 'roast Mr. Indestructible'." Jeremy grinned, making his way to the center of the main ring. Standing center-stage, as it were, he turned to view their theatre. A big tent, bleacher style seating.. He let himself smile then, stating simply, "This is the family business," and he wanted it to be perfect, down to the last detail.

Momentarily disregarding Kole's request, she focused in on Kendrick's affections nodding with a slight pout to her lips. Inching closer to him she smirked as she over heard Jeremy's remarks about roasting Kendrick. "I would love to roast Mr. Indestructible.... again." Scarlett smirked and let out a giggle as she tiptoed her fingers up his chest, "However, I don't think that act would be very... kid friendly, if you catch my drift." She raised and eyebrow and held his eye-contact letting the tension grow even more. Tension always made things exciting, at least when the flames weren't exciting enough.
