There was always a familiar spark that could be found in Rowans eye when she was busy. The determination painted across her face like a masterpiece as she focused her attention on the brilliantly molded doors that led up to a relatively new building. Changes were spiraling around them, and while Rowan couldn't stop the change from coming, she could put support in place to help the islanders liver as peaceful of a life as possible. Taking the first step towards the doors, Rowan allowed her eyes to absorb every details lined along establishment. That was until a familiar voice rung from behind her. "Didn't think you'd actually be able to do it." Rowan didn't have to look back in order to realize that it was the voice of Kaleb. Slowly turning around to face him, Rowan allowed the soft touch of pink to tingle across her cheeks. "Thought you would know better than to doubt me by now." As she turned back towards the doors, the smile lessened but still lingered in fragments on Rowans face.
As a child, Rowan never had expected for her life to turn out in such ways. With her family assassinated, and with becoming an orphan, things never truly seemed to settle in her youth. Rowan had found Promised her home once, that was until the woman who had taken her in, Alice, had disappeared as well. It was then Rowan had finally taken her life into her own hands. It was then Rowan figured out the strength behind her words, her actions. Despite the strength she had discovered, here had still been times when Rowan wondered the truth behind her families murder. The rumors that had reached back to her spoke of hunters, but then within week the stories spoke of collectors. All the while there was never word of her family from hunters, nor collectors that Rowan had encounters. In reality, it was as if her families death had never happened. Rowan wasn't sure, and couldn't entirely prove it yet but it was as if someone had done just enough to prove a point but not enough to make a scene. But this wasn't the first loss that had made Rowan who she was, far from it. It didn't take long after meeting the carnie family for them to split up, most falling to their grave with the war against the hunters. Then there was Ian and Claire. When returning to the supernatural world Claire had been the first individual Rowan found herself to trust. The woman had an incredible ability of adaption and with a little nudge she could accomplish what most supernaturals could only dream of. Then there was Ian. While Ian's family was a little wonky, he had the bravest heart that Rowan had ever encountered. It wasn't only his heart that made him spectacular, but also his tracking ability was dead on every time. The three had grown close rather fast, and could have been an unstoppable team. Things were never that simple though. With the swift changing world and corrupted days, Claire and Ian moved away to start their life together. Rowan would never blame them for such choices, but it never hurt to wonder where they were.
Taking one step at a time, Rowan approached the tall standing wooden doors. Not far behind her stood a rather large bodied bear. It's mass took up double what most large bears would take up. Reaching her finger tips out, Rowan looked over her shoulder slightly to invite the bear closer. "Come Oso, this is the next chapter." Taking a deep breath, Rowan pressed her hands into the wooden doors. As she pushed her body weight into the doors, she slowly released the air that filled her lungs. Pushing the doors the rest of the way open, Rowan took several steps into the large lobby. A muffled growl came from the large bear that stood now directly beside Rowan. Without having to look at him, Rowan took several more steps inside the beautiful lobby. "An Academy. We are opening an Academy Oso."
Many had questioned Rowans decisions when it came to the construction of the establishment. Those who opposed her decision were easily dismissed by the various citizens that trusted Rowan. When the Immortals had disappeared, or ran off to fight another battle, Rowan had remained among the Promised people. Most questioned the need for a school during such dark times, but life wasn't about the dark times. There would always be nightmares, but that didn't mean that the children had to live in the nightmare. Giving the youth a chance to understand who they were, what they were capable...Now that was what would eliminate the nightmares. For so long it had been up to the Immortals to protect, to rebuild...But it was time for the children to understand what it meant to have hope, to have determination. In dark times, the point wasn't to mere close your eyes. When the sun doesn't shine, it wasn't time to lose your mind...In these times it is time to fight back. As a child, Rowan never allowed others to fight her own battles and that was what kept her alive, and that was how she would keep this next generation alive.
