Silence. There were very few moments in her life these days that involved such a word. Even now, as she sat back in the rocking chair Kendrick had moved to their balcony for her, an occasional wave from the trees could be heard through the hushed tones of a gentle breeze. Before she might have taken such a dull moment for granted, particularly in the weeks that led up to it all she felt bored or anxious to be doing something else. However in this moment she sat quietly with her eyes closed rocking back and forth with her precious son cradled in her arms. Phoenix Killian Rioz, the piece she never knew was missing from her heart, sent as a gift to warm her soul and make her a better person. Her handsome eight pound little boy surged her a flood of happiness since the moment he was born, so much so that she often found herself smiling or humming sweet lullaby’s to him. Scarlett loved every little moment of motherhood; giving birth had graced her with an overwhelming sense of patience for her helpless baby, while others might not find themselves so lucky to be in her presence.
With the mother witch still at bay, Scarlett became overbearingly protective of her son, limiting only her closest loved ones anywhere near her home. Her pregnancy had granted her a temporary power to heal much like Kendrick but on a smaller scale, as well as a weak shielding effect on her and her child. Jeremy picked up on these abilities rather quickly and had come up with the idea to amplify them so as to project her shielding on the entire house. She felt this gave Kendrick a peace of mind these past few months. With Jeremy staying behind with her it gave Kendrick time to try and find a solution for Kole and Rion, or looking for Victory. While the separation from Kendrick had been lonely, she still had plenty of time to spend on her son, doting away at his every need. Which lead to this very moment of pure bliss and ignorance of the chaotic world falling apart outside of her home. Phoenix began to stir; his soft cry brought her back from her subconscious thoughts as she looked down at him concerned.
For a moment she simply stared at his darling little face. Everything about him was a novelty to her; from the fresh baby smell, to the tiny clothes she picked out for him each day, never expecting to be a mother having vaguely remembered her own. Reaching out to touch his soft cheek, Scarlett spoke tenderly to her son, “Hey there… don’t cry, Mommy has you.” A smile rose to her own cheeks as she comforted him with a song, "Hush little baby don't you cry, mommy's gonna sing you a lullaby". Phoenix quickly drifted back to sleep, allowing Scarlett back into her subconscious thoughts. Soon Quinn would be having her own child, a little girl Quinn had told her the moment she could tell. There were many moments Scarlett found herself anxious to share the love that swelled in her with her dear friend. But sorrow often joined her knowing Rion had not woken still. Victory had torn them all apart, perhaps not in spirit, but enough that Scarlett worried for her loved ones what would become of them all. All Scarlett could do with her yearning to be with her husband and friends is channel it into raising her child the best she could. For the time being it would have to do, and she didn’t mind as long as she had her Phoenix.
