Set your life on fire,
seek those who fan your flames.
seek those who fan your flames.
Scarlett practically skipped the entire way to town, she smiled at every single person that passed her by. Today she was in a good mood, practically glowing as she found herself in the center of town. This would be the day she would take on a new last name. Scarlett had many names throughout her lifetime, granted they were all stage names, but she had her fair share of titles. None compared to the name she would take on at sunset surrounded by those she cared most for left in this world. And while that number grew smaller as the days passed, she intended on growing that number someday in the future. Instinctively Scarlett placed both hands on her stomach and smiled, someday soon perhaps.
Standing in the very center near the grand fountain, Scarlett turned slowly to glance around at all the windows advertising opening sales and new shipments of anything the heart desired. Scarlett took note of the few windows advertising dress when one particular window caught her attention. Not necessarily the window itself but who was sitting just behind it. Strutting over to the small café, Scarlett walked right up to their table and gave Jeremy a smile of approval. "Well hello you two lovebirds, I hate to interrupt but I have big news!" Scarlett then reached for a chair at one of the adjacent tables and sat down between Anastasiya and Jeremy. Part of her did feel bad for interrupting their conversation, but something on Anastasiya's face screamed for a distraction, "Well Kendrick has decided we're going to get married today. Annie would you be a dear and come dress shopping with me, I believe Kendrick will be here any moment to steal Jeremy away for details anyway." Scarlett gave Annie an encouraging smile, placing her hand on the girls arm. "It'll be fun, I swear I don't bite people I like."
Chuckling to indicate her joke, Scarlett pushed the chair back, the friction between the two surfaces of wood caused a loud screech to echo through the room. But Scarlett payed it no mind, she was on a mission to find the perfect dress and she only had a few hours left judging by the suns position in the sky. Smiling as apologetically to Jeremy as she could she patted his shoulder and began to walk out, "Don't worry, I'll make it up to you later, promise." As they made their way out the door Scarlett turned to Annie and let out a deep sigh before making her way to the first shop she spotted. Taking a deep breath she couldn't contain her excitement, "Thank you Annie, for coming. I know you've been thrown into the craziness that is our makeshift family but this means a lot to me. I've dreamt of this day since I was a little girl and never thought it would actually happen." She clasped her hands together and jumped up and down only for a moment before pushing the glass door open.
It was a small little mom and pop style place with the old fashioned bell that hung from the ceiling jingling each time the door opened. The walls were covered with gowns, mostly white but there were still plenty of brightly colored dresses amongst them. For a few minutes Scarlett began to think that the owner had stepped out for a minute, but just as she was ready to leave a mass of dresses began to make its way towards the front room. As the dresses were placed on the grand counter and plump little old woman was revealed. She rambled on about new dresses and orders she had to fill. Scarlett simply nodded and smiled at the old woman, she was the type of woman Scarlett imagined her grandmother might be like had she ever gotten the chance to meet, kind but rough on the edges.
When the woman finally smiled back and asked how she could help the two ladies she paused and held up a finger, "Let me guess, you're getting married?" Scarlett couldn't help but smile, "Is it that obvious..." she let out a nervous giggle and glanced around the shop, "I fear we're on a tight schedule... but do you have anything in red?" All Scarlett could do was smile, she felt like a ditzy idiot but it was her day, she was allowed to be anything she wanted. Today she was a bride, and tonight she would be a wife. Tonight she would be Mrs. Scarlett Rioz and the world was hers.
